Regenerative Medicine
Our Approach
At Summit Regenerative Medicine, we assess a patient’s injury and develop a tailored care plan to best address the underlying pathology. We strive to help patients achieve their maximum performance, enhance their recovery, and prolong their functional longevity.
Our core belief is that vascular damage is the start of injury. The body’s failure to regenerate the small blood vessels leads to an ischemic wound bed. During healing, repair of tissues or bone in this area lacking oxygen and nutrient rich blood causes scar formation by reducing macrophage recruitment, fibroblast deposition, stem cell migration, and decreasing laminin and elastin cross linking. Changing this microenvironment can improve healing towards normal, healthy tissue allowing patients to recover to their baseline functional status.
We are happy to consult with patients regarding their injuries and develop a care plan that is tailored for their optimal recovery and function.
Our Expertise
Dr. Saju Joseph is a Harvard-trained surgeon who has been involved in research for his entire career. Prior to entering medicine, Dr. Joseph was part of a research team investigating how the placenta develops and its ability to modulate the mother’s immune system. He continued his research and academic interests in surgery studying the role of angiogenesis in cancer development. Dr. Joseph has been a thought leader in the field of regenerative medicine for over 20 years with 14 years of experience using placental membranes during surgery to promote healing. For more than eight years, Dr. Joseph has been using products containing amniotic membranes and/or fluid to treat a myriad of non-surgical injuries and illnesses in an outpatient setting. He is well versed in both the science behind the products and the optimal techniques to deliver them to the affected area, successfully treating more than 1,000 patients, including some of the world’s top athletes.
Dr. Joseph has also been at the forefront in the field of Point of Care Ultrasound, serves as a medical advisor to numerous regenerative medicine companies, speaks and presents research at national and international conferences, serves on the editorial boards of numerous medical journals, and is the Vice Chair of Surgery for Touro University Nevada.
